By the Blessings of Acharya Madhva,my Kula Devatha , Ishta Devatha and my Naadi Guru Shri R.G.Rao,I would like to write an article about Saptharishi Nadi.

Most of the Naadi Astrologers might be knowing about Guru Ji’s Bhrigu-Nandi Nadi through which he introduced Raos system of Naadi Astrology.He has written a lot of books on Naadi Astrology like Raos System of Naadi Astrology,The core of Nadi Astrology,Essence of Nadi Astrology and many more.In all these books,he has given importance to Guru as Jiva Karaka and other planetary Karakatwas without using any Lagna.Maharshi Bhrugu is Manasaputra or mind born sons of Lord Brahma.Nandikeshwara is the Vahana or vehicle of Lord Shiva but is considered as the son of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvathi.But actually he was the son of Maharshi Shilad and was emerged from Yajna Kunda during Maharshi’s Yajna/fire sacrifice.He emerged with 4 arms and 3 eyes.Nandi also made a long Tapas/penance and got the Blessings of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvathi and Lord Shiva Blessed him that he will be like Lord Shiva and considered as Shiva and Parvathi’s son.So these 2 Maharshis wrote separately on Naadi leaves about the life of various human beings.

But Shri R.G.Rao has written a book called Brihat Nadi Astrology where he used Saptharishi Nadi and explained about 204 chart examples mentioned in Saptharishi Nadi.Here Lagna is used but its usage is used very sparingly.

Now let us try to understand who are Saptha Rishis.They are also called as Brahmarshis as they gained all knowledge about Brahman.They are Vishwamitra,Atri,Vasishta,Bhrigu,Jamadagni,Shandilya and Maharshi Kashyapa.But these Saptha Rishis change as per Manvantara.This Manvantara is a big chapter and it is out of reach of this article.

In Saptharishi Nadi,2 Maharshis got added and they are Maharshi Agastya and Maharshi Parashara and both are the grandsons of Brahmarishi Vasishta.

Saptharishi Nadi is written in old Tamil language and is published by Madras Oriental Library,Chennai.In this book,the Maharishis discuss the different charts of the human beings born in the earth with Mother Parvathi.In the book,Brihat Nadi Astrology written by Shri R.G.Rao,there are charts under discussion by Maharishi Atri,Vasishta,Agastya ,Jaimini and Parashara.In this book,some charts are explained using Lagna but in a entirely different way without using any Varga charts.

In this article,I would like to write about some charts analysed by these Brahmarishis and Maharishis.

Chart 1) : A male native denied of male progeny :

Here this male chart was explained by Maharshi Parashara. This male native’s Lagna is Vrishabha with Chandra in Karkataka Rashi,Rahu in Kanya Rashi,Shani in Tula Rashi,Guru in Makara Rashi,Kuja in Kumbha Rashi,Budha with Ketu in Meena Rashi and Surya with Shukra in Mesha Rashi.Here 1st Maharshi was explaining about the matters related to the native’s father.Maharshi Parashara said there were 7 Co-borns took birth along with the native’s father.Among them three brothers and one sister are alive and the remaining are expired.The reason for this is due to Kuja placed in 5th to Shani who is exalted in Tula Rashi.Hence he is survived.Guru placed in Makara Rashi is another brother and Rahu placed in Kanya Rashi is the 3rd brother who survived.Budha is with Ketu,so one younger brother will not survive.Shukra is with Surya ,so one sister is also survived.Since father indicator Surya is aspected by Shani in 7th house from Surya and Kuja in 11th house from Surya,father is of black in colour.The same placement of planets Shani and Kuja with respect to Surya also indicate that he will come up in life after a lot of struggles.There is no landed property to the native’s father.This is due to the placement of Budha,the Karaka for landed property debilitated in 12th from Surya and is with Ketu.Eventhough Chandra is placed in 5th to Budha,he will lose all the landed property he got later in his life.

CHARACTER OF THE NATIVE

As there is a combination of Guru in trine to Rahu,the native will be of ash colour.This Guru is aspected by Chandra placed in his own Rashi who in turn is in trine to Budha and Ketu indicates the native knows fine arts.He will talk courteously,and will also earn name and fame.He will acquire various types of knowledge and this is due to Guru’s sign lord exalted Shani placed in Tula Rashi loded by Shukra who with Surya aspects Shani.Because Surya + Shukra are aspecting Shani who is in trine to Kuja,he will conquer the enemies.He will also accumulate various precious jewels.

He will construct a house at the age of 34-35 when transit Shani comes to Dhanu Rashi where Shani will be in trines to Surya+Shukra.The native will marry at the age of 20 when transit Guru comes to Simha Rashi in his 2nd round.This is due to Simha Rashi lord Surya is with Shukra,the Patni Karaka.At the same time Shani placed in Tula Rashi ( West Direction )receives the directional aspect of transit Guru in Simha Rashi ( East Direction ).Because Patni Karaka Shukra is with exalted Surya,the native’s wife will be haughty and lucky also.As Kuja the sign lord of Surya+Shukra is placed in 11th from them,she will get sudden anger.

There is no possibility of male progeny to the native’s wife.This is due to the exalted Shani aspects Putra Karaka Surya and the aspect of Chandra on debilitated Guru.Budha,the enemy planet of Kuja,the sign dispositor of Surya is placed in 2nd to him.Also the placement of exalted Shani in the 9th from Kuja,the sign dispositor of Surya,the Putra Karaka has denied male child to her.But because of the aspect of exalted Shani on Shukra ,there is a possibility of female progeny to her.

THE EXPLANATION GIVEN BY MAHARSHI PARASHARA

As a ruler of Lagna placed in 12th house to Lagna and being aspected by exalted Shani is the reason for the denial of male progeny.Also the Lord of 7th house Kuja placed in 11th house from Lagna Lord Shukra which aspects 4th house from Lagna.So these are the reasons which indicate the sins committed in the past life.

Maharshi Parashara also points out the glimpses of the past life as hereunder :

This native was born as a priest in a small town in his previous life.( For this consider Guru,the Jiva Karaka in its previous Rashi which is Dhanu Rashi ).He used to observe Panchanga and was not properly pronouncing the Holy Mantras.( the reason is Karma Karaka Shani is in 11th from Dhanu Rashi where his previous life Guru is considered.Debilitated Budha with Ketu is in trines to Vrischika Rashi which is 12th to Guru which indicates the support from these 2 planets.Budha is Vak Karaka and Ketu is karaka for obstruction,he had the problems of speech.So he could not chant Holy Mantras correctly.)He offered food to the poor ladies.( Guru in trines to Shukra + Surya aspected by exalted Shani ).Anyhow he enjoyed his life with his wife and children and breathed his last.In this life he was born as a goldsmith.Jiva Karaka Guru’s sign dispositor Shani who is exalted in Tula Rashi is in trines to Kuja which is in 2nd to Guru indicates working on gold ).As a result of non pronouncement of of Holy Mantras in his past life,he was denied male progeny in this life.

Shani is placed in 6th house from Lagna and is aspected by Surya.This Shani is in 12th from 7th house and so there is a defect in his wife’s child bearing organ also.

Maharshi Parashara also suggests remedies.The native has to worship Godess with utmost devotion by writing the Prime Letters of Godess Devi on a thin copper plate ( Shri Durga Yantra ).He has to offer food to poor and needy persons under the kind guidance of his Holy Guru.He has to conduct NAVAGRAHA HAVAN in a right manner and the ways with utmost devotion during the Hindu months of Meena,Tula and Dhanu for a period of one year.Then only he would get a male progeny.

Chart-2 : NATIVE ACQUIRES KNOWLEDGE IN VEDAS :

The above male chart is explained by Maharshi Atri and Maharshi Parashara.Budha,the Karaka for Shri Maha Vishnu is posited in Simha Rashi,an eastern directional sign.So there was a temple of Shri Vishnu in the eastern direction from his birth place.

Shani and Ketu ,the indicator of Lord Shiva are placed in Meena Rashi and Karkataka Rashi,both being northern directional signs.So there was a temple of Lord Shiva in the Northern direction from the place of his Birth.( Here the explanation is given as per directions only and no Lagna is mentioned.)

THE MATTERS RELATED TO THE NATIVE’S FATHER

Father of this native is short.The explanation given by both Maharshis is that Surya,the Karaka for father is posited in Tula Rashi and Shani in 2nd to him in Vrischika Rashi and Kuja in 12th to him in Kanya Rashi.( Here the reason is both Shani and Kuja are placed in their enemic Rashis.And Surya is debilitated also ).Also this condition of Shani and Kuja on both sides of Surya indicates he had 2 brothers also.

Father will be talking effectively.( Budha is in 11th to Surya and is in Surya’s swakshetra ).But he will be poverty stricken.This is because both Shani and Ketu are in 2nd to Surya’s position.Chandra is posited in 9th house from Surya.So it is very clear that whatever he earned will be spent completely by the end of the month.In the beginning he will become debt bounded.But later he will prosper.Further the same above planetary combination will enable him to develop divine qualities in him.( This will happen when both transit Guru and transit Shani at his age of about 42-43 years will be crossing his natal Ketu.)

Because of the placement of Budha in 11th house to Surya,he will get his work done by way of cunningness.The same combination also indicates that he will be having cattles and landed properties and progress & prosperity by them.

THE QUESTION OF OTHER MAHARSHIS

No doubt there is a combination of Shani + Ketu and Chandra who is at a later degree from Surya ie., reaching towards Ketu in Karkataka Rashi.But how could this combination is attributed for the presence of cattles ie., specially cow ??

REPLY FROM MAHARSHI ATRI

In this chart,there is an exchange between Guru and Shani.So instead of Shani+Ketu = Chandra,there will be Guru +Ketu = Chandra.So it is an indication of holy cow ie., Guru + Ketu ( tail ) and Chandra indicates milk.So the father prospers from cattles and devotion to God.

THE MATTER RELATED TO THE NATIVE

The placement of Kuja and Shukra is in 9th house to Guru,the Jiva Karaka.Therefore it is considered as the native himself.After exchange of Guru and Shani,Kuja and Shukra will receive 7th aspect of Guru from Meena Rashi.The placement of Guru in the 5th house to Kuja + Shukra indicates the native will acquire education.( It is because both Kuja + Shukra are placed in Kanya Rashi which is the exaltation Rashi of Vidya Karaka Budha who is placed in 12th to them ).The placement of Shani in the 3rd house to Guru and Ketu in 7th house will enable him to acquire knowledge in Vedas and their principles.

The placement of Shani in the 3rd house and Kuja in 9th house to Guru indicates the native has 2 brothers ( younger ).Also the placement of Ketu in 7th ,alone Budha in 8th and Shukra in the 9th house to Guru indicates the native had 3 sisters.

During the 2nd round transit of Guru at the age of about 22-23 year,when he transits over Vrischika Rashi ,he will aspect the southern sign Kanya where Kuja and Shukra are placed.Therefore this indicates that there will be a marriage for this native in his 22nd to 23rd year.

Here further detailed explanation is given by Maharshi Atri.Shani is placed in Meena Rashi which is a northern direction sign.During transit when guru comes to Vrischika Rashi which is also a northern direction sign,he aspects natal Shani,natal Guru in southern direction and Kuja + Shukra in another southern direction sign.( My own explanation : when we see the transit Shani also he transits over Vrischika Rashi at his age of 20-22 ½ years.Shani is the Karma Karaka 1st induces marriage,then Guru comes there and Blesses the marriage.Now further Mangala Sutra Karaka Ketu during its 2nd round transit will be transiting over Vrishabha Rashi,a Southern direction sign during the native’s 21-22 ½ years of age which will be in trines to Kuja+Shukra in Kanya Rashi and also in trines to natal Guru in Makara Rashi ).By summing up the aspect of transit Shani,Guru and Ketu over natal (Kuja+)Shukra has given marriage to the native at the age of 21-22 ½ years.)

The wife indicating planet Shukra is placed in Southern direction sign Kanya Rashi,so she will be coming from Southern direction.

Because of the placement of Guru and Rahu,the indicator of beauty in the 5th house to Shukra + Kuja,the combination formed is Shukra+Kuja+Guru+Rahu.As a result of this combination,the wife of this native will be extremely beautiful,reddish in colour having a chisteled body with an attractive feature.Because of the trinal link between Guru and Kuja with Shukra,wife will have a taintless heart.She will be intelligent ( due to its placement in Budha’s exaltation sign ) and strict ( due to Budha in Simha Rashi ) in her talkings.Also as Shani is in 7th from Shukra and Ketu in 5th to Shani,wife will be devoted.

ON THE BASIS OF NADI,MAHARSHI JAIMINI ASKS THE QUESTION :

In the above horoscope,Surya is debilitated in 7th house from Lagna.Shukra,the lord of 7th house which is also Karaka of wife is also debilitated in 12th house from 7th house.So in such case,how could be assessed that wife is having good longevity ??

Without the basis of the Lagna,on the basis of mere placement of the planets and their combination,it can be said that the Karaka of wife,Shukra is debilitated and is with Kuja.Rahu ,the strong enemy of Kuja is placed in 5th house to Kuja and Shukra.As such the power of Shukra and Kuja are diminished to a considerable extent.Therefor the longevity of wife is curtailed.

REPLY GIVEN BY GODESS PARVATHI DEVI IN FOLLOWING PARAGRAPHS :

In the horoscope,Chandra is placed in 4th house from Shani and Ketu is placed in 5th house or in 2nd house to Chandra.Because of this the sacred “ MANGALYA SUTRA“ tied with a twine thread was stolen by the thieves.( Here Ketu indicates Mangalya tied with a twine thread aspected by Guru and Chandra in 2nd house to Ketu as he is retrograding indicates theft of Mangalya Sutra .)But on exchange of Shani with Guru,Guru comes to his own house of Meena Rashi.Then Shukra will be aspected by Guru .This indicates that wife will possess the sacred “ Mangalya Sutra “ second time.

Now another Maharshi argues that the combination of Kuja and Shukra,Guru and Rahu does not confer good longevity.

Mother Godess again explains like this : Shukra is the wife ,Kuja,the friend of Shukra is her husband.Guru is debilitated in 5th house to Kuja + Shukra.On exchange between Guru and Shani.Shani comes to Makara Rashi which is his own Rashi.Then the new combination becomes Shukra+Kuja +Shani+Rahu.Both Shani and Rahu are the bosom friends of Shukra.Therefor she will have a good longevity except there will be some health problems.

AT WHAT AGE THE THEFT OF THE SACRED MANGALYS SUTRA WILL TAKE PLACE ? :

During the transit of 2nd round of Shani,when he transits over Vrishabha Rashi at around her 34th year of age.( Here one round of Shani starts from Meena Rashi and ends in Kumbha Rashi at the of 30.Then the 2nd round starts from Mesha Rashi which will be between 30 to 32 ½ years and next transit over Vrishabha Rashi between 32 ½ and 35 years of age ).Chandra is placed in 2nd house to Vrishabha Rashi.Natal Rahu is placed in 9th house to transiting Shani and Shukra,the Karaka of Mangalya is posited in 5th house to transiting Shani.That means for the combination of Shani + Rahu,the combination of Kuja+Shukra will have a link.Also Chandra is placed in the 2nd house to transiting Shani and this indicates theft of Mangalya will take place at the age of around 34 years.( But at the same time ie., during the age of 34 years,transit Guru will be in Dhanu Rashi during the 2nd round which aspects Chandra which indicates that he will tie the Mangalya Sutra 2nd time ).

SOME PARTICULARS OF THE NATIVE RELATING TO HIS PAST LIFE :

Here Mother Parvathi explains about the native’s past life..

This native was an able administrative officer in his previous life.He was living happily along with his wife and children.On the basis of opinion given by somw wicked people,a woman was subjected to penalty for no fault.This action was reflected on him as a curse/Shaap.This is the result of the curse which the native has to undergo in this life.Guru is posited in the 10th house from Lagna which aspects Shukra.Therefore his wife will have good longevity but there is Neecha Raja Yoga from Shukra.

EXPLANATION :

To consider the matter of previous life for the native,Guru to be shifted to Dhanu Rashi from Makara Rashi.Now Guru will receive the aspect of Chandra who is the Karaka for blame.Now Guru and Budha are in trines to each other which means they conjuct each other.So when there is an aspect of blemish ( spoiling ) indicator Chandra on the conjunction of Budha and Guru ,the native will bound to get blame.When Budha is alone,he will be considered as female planet.Kuja and Rahu will come to 2nd house to Dhanu Rashi ie., Makara Rashi.Because of this reason,the female planets are being hemmed without any fault,wife of the native was penalised.

Hence it is the resultant effect of his past Karma.

MATTER REGARDING HIS MOTHER :

Chandra is the Karaka for Mother.Budha who is the son of Chandra is placed in 3rd house to Chandra.Surya is placed in 5th house to Chandra.So mother will have more affection towards her son.Shani is placed in 10th house to Chandra,Kuja and Shukra are placed in 4th house to Chandra.So it can be said that the native will have 2 brothers.( 3 including the native -Guru ).

During the transit of Rahu in his 2nd round at the age of 32-34 ½ years of age in Mesha Rashi,Ketu will be over his natal Surya.So due to this transit,his father would breathe his last.Similarly during the transit of Rahu over Dhanu Rashi and Ketu over his natal Chandra at his age of 37 ½ -39 ,his mother would breather her last.

So like these charts,there are numerous charts discussed by Saptharishis with Mother Parvathi and even when the Lagna is used in their discussion especially by Maharshi Parashara,he never used any Varga charts to delineate.

This is for information.Only Maharshis ( Brahmarshis ) can decode a chart without using Lagna but using Guru as Jiva Karaka in male charts and Shukra in female charts..
